We are experiencing an incredible heat wave today in Chicago. It’s only the first week of March, and for the past two days high temperatures have been over 60 degrees!
Even the hint of warmer weather makes me eager to get some outdoor wheels on my skates. I live very close to a big park, and can’t wait to practice skating outdoors with the warm sun on my face! In fact, tomorrow when I’m at the roller rink, I might have to look at what they have in terms of all-purpose outdoor wheels.
I don’t think I’m too concerned about speed for skating outdoors. The inline skaters are going to be so much faster than me anyways. Plus, if I’m slow enough I can bring my dog, Poppins, with me. She loves to go for long walks and has plenty of energy to keep up with me skating at an easy pace.
It’s going to rain this weekend; so even if I get outdoor wheels tomorrow, I doubt I’ll be able to use them right away. As soon as the weather is consistently mild, which will probably time perfectly with my becoming (f)unemployed at the beginning of April, I hope to get out in the wide open with my skates as much as possible!
